The FIFAM first edition was sponsored by the famous Algerian actor Faouzi SAICHI who was born on April 9, 1951 in Aïn Sefra, in Algeria. He has lived in Algiers since the age of 6. His first world of cinema experience was in 1974 with the film Leila and the others. He earned several distinctions that marked his long career, notably the Prize for male interpretation, obtained in 1982 at the Carthage Festival, in Tunisia, for the film Un toit, une famille by Rabah Laradj. His filmography shows that he was an essential actor in Algerian cinema, also in great demand by foreign filmmakers.

WORDS FROM THE SPONSOR – FAOUZI SAICHI

Born in the Kabyle of the Babors and raised between the Sahara and Algiers, I had the chance to rub shoulders with the great Kabyle artists. I was aware of our authentic identity from a young age. I also participated on several occasions in Amazigh festivals both in Morocco and in Algeria. I met several young talents there who make films on the sidelines and without support, hence the importance of festivals like FIFAM which become a space for promotion and encouragement. Thus my sponsorship of the first edition of the festival of the Amazigh film by Montreal comes into its own and is part of a conviction and a desire to help the young Amazigh cinema to assert itself in the capitals of the world. Good festival to all. Long live the cinema and FIFAM!
